MEETING ROOM CHANGE FOR OCTOBER PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!

THE OCTOBER MEETING WILL BE HELD IN THE

INTEGRIS BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER, BUILDING D, CONFERENCE ROOM C

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Our September meeting was really great! Janet Lewis, RN, MA, CNOR spoke on OR Teamwork of the Future. If you were unable to attend, you missed an inspirational talk. We can thrive in today’s environment!

Please note that we will be meeting in a different room at Baptist

Hospital (Building D, Room C) this month!

You won’t want to miss our November meeting . It will be at the State Capitol. Nurses from other Chapters often attend.

Also, because of Thanksgiving, our November meeting will move up a week to Tuesday, November 14th. Mark your calendars now!

Another important calendar event is AORN Congress in Dallas, Texas, March 11-15, 2001. Coretta Scott King will give the Keynote address on Sunday, March 11th.

In June AORN was granted official observer status with American Medical Association. We are only the second nursing organization to achieve this honor, and the only specialty nursing organization to be so designated. The ANA is the other nursing official observer.

AORN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA CHAPTER

BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES

SEPTEMBER 19, 2000

The meeting was opened by President Loretta Cates with an introduction of Janet Lewis. Janet is the Director of Surgical Services at Baptist Hospital and gave a presentation on “OR Teamwork of the Future.” She began by asking us to remember what the OR had been like 30 years ago. It was quite interesting to hear those who reminisced about those times.

Janet next asked us to think about what it might be like in the OR 30 years from now. She feels that there will be some very dramatic changes, and that we will be a part of these future changes.

Janet’s presentation was excellent and gave us all some very good food for thought!

At the conclusion of Janet’s talk, Loretta held a very brief business meeting. All of the officers and board members were introduced. Loretta asked us to be sure to turn the surveys that had been handed out to us.

There was a motion to have a brief business meeting at each month’s meeting. Motion was carried and the meeting was adjourned at 8:15.

Submitted Respectfully,

Cookie Jennings
