APPOINTMENTS

Although we receive referrals from primary care physicians and other specialists, a referral is not necessary to make an appointment for a non-Workers' Compensation injury. All appointments for Workers' Compensation injuries must be made by the insurance adjustor, nurse case manager or attorney as these office visits require prior authorization.

Every effort is made to keep our appointment schedule. We appreciate the value of your time and dislike long waiting periods in our office. However, in this subspecialty, emergencies may cause unforeseen delays. If timing is critical to your schedule on a particular day, please notify the appointment coordinator and she will reschedule your appointment at another time or on another day.  For New Patient Forms, click here.

Our office hours are by appointment only. Appointments are normally made with the patient's treating physician.  If for any reason your physician is not available, arrangements may be made for you to see one of our other physicians. If you cannot keep the scheduled appointment, we would appreciate a call to our office as much ahead of time as possible.

If you have seen any doctor for your symptoms, please have your medical records (including x-rays and any diagnostic tests) with you when you arrive or have them forwarded to our office one week before your scheduled appointment. It is important to bring your current insurance provider manual with you in the event we need to schedule any diagnostic tests, x-rays, lab work or surgery (or write down the different facilities covered by your insurance and bring this list with you). You will need to present your insurance card at your first appointment and, depending on your insurance carrier, perhaps at every appointment.

We are a smoke-free facility. We encourage the participation of the family in the rehabilitation of the hand; however, our examination room space is limited. Therefore, children are not allowed in the examination area unless they have an appointment.

TELEPHONE CALLS

When you call the office, the receptionist will direct your call to the appropriate person. Since the physician and nurses are routinely with patients, your message will be taken and given to the medical personnel.  Your call will be returned normally within 24 hours and sometimes this may be after our regular office hours.  You can assist us in handling your telephone calls by making your calls as early in the day as possible. There may be a fee charged for patient treatment that is administered over the telephone.

EMERGENCY CALLS

Urgent or emergency calls are accepted at all hours. In case of an emergency after hours, call 405.748.6600 to receive directions for contacting the physician on call. In extreme emergencies, the patient should go directly to the emergency room where a hospital physician is on duty at all times.

INSURANCE PLANS

Our physicians have contracted with most of the major insurance plans. Since each of our physicians is not on every plan, we recommend that you contact your insurance company to verify the type of benefits which are covered with your specific physician.

HOSPITALS

The hospital affiliations of our physicians include Deaconess Hospital and Mercy Health Center. Our physicians also perform surgeries at several out-patient surgery centers.

INTERNATIONAL PATIENTS

The staff of Oklahoma Hand Surgery Center will assist you in arranging any travel needs for national and international patients. We strive to provide an environment of "feeling right at home." We will provide you with a list of transportation and/or shuttle services for patients and any family members while in the Oklahoma City area. Our staff will coordinate the patient's care with all other allied health professionals. Interpreters are available in the Oklahoma City area. Sometimes, medical care may require short or long-term stays in the Oklahoma City area. If lodging is needed, there are several close accommodations available that are within walking distance or a short drive to the treatment center.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

All fees incurred in our office are due and payable at the time services are rendered. Our fees are within the customary range for this geographical area and reflect the level of care you received from our Board-certified physicians. We have standardized charges for various procedures. These fees are available from our business office. Federal agencies and third-party payors require that we make every effort to collect co-payments and deductibles. Failure to do this is considered insurance fraud. It is the policy of our office that co-payments and deductibles will not be waived.

The receipt that is given to the patient at the time of each visit was designed to be used for insurance purposes.  The patient is responsible for payment on account in a timely fashion regardless of what the insurance pays. We recommend that you discuss fees for surgery in advance with our business office.

If we are in contract with your insurance company, you must pay your applicable co-payment and deductible at the time services are rendered. We would like for you to be aware that:

  • We must have complete insurance information to file a claim.
  • We need notification of address and phone number changes.
  • If your insurance company notifies you regarding our services, please do not assume that they have contacted us.
  • If you have Medicaid/SoonerCare coverage, you must immediately inform us of your case number; otherwise, we have no way of knowing about your coverage. You must present your cards at the time of each visit.

If we are not in contract with your insurance company, payment is due at the time services are rendered. We can file your insurance for you, if you desire, and direct the insurance company to reimburse you. As a medical provider, our relationship is with you, not the insurance company. Should you need our surgical services and desire us to file your claim for you, you will need to pay your applicable co-payment and deductible.

For Disability and Insurance Forms, we will complete the section for the Physician Statement at a nominal charge of five dollars ($5), payable at the time of the request. The forms will be handled in the order in which they are received and our goal is to return these to you within seven business days.

If your medical needs are the result of a Third Party Liability claim, payment is due at the time services are rendered. It is your responsibility to obtain reimbursement from the appropriate party. We accept checks, money orders, MasterCard, Visa, and cash. If you have any questions about the above information or any uncertainty regarding insurance coverage, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We are here to help you.
